Common Scented Candle Questions

Candles are sensitive to light and temperature. so be careful when storing them for any extended period of time. If you are storing them for an extended period, avoid colour-fading, melting or cracking by storing candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or fluorescent light.

The storage temperature should never exceed 28°C (82°F) or fall below 2°C (35°F). Exposure to moisture may inhibit relighting. Remember to follow these guidelines when travelling. The temperature in a parked car can easily reach extremes causing your candles to melt or freeze, damaging them.

All candles will discolour or fade when they are exposed to strong light for extended periods.

Wherever possible, do not display candles for long periods in direct sunlight or other strong illumination. Store candles in a cool, dry place. Wax will soften in temperatures over 28°C (82°F). This may affect the quality and appearance of your candles.

We do not accept the return of used candle containers. However, most local authorities accept Ashleigh & Burwood Jars for recycling along with your other bottles and jars.

When a candle consumes more wax than the flame can burn completely, carbon can deposit on the wick (clubbing). This usually happens when the wick is too long. Blow out the flame and allow the candle to cool. Trim the wick (removing the carbon deposit) and re-light. Ensure that the wick trimmings do not remain in the candle.

Ashleigh & Burwood only use Lead free wicks. With modern wick technology there is no longer a need for anyone to use Lead wicks.

All of our candles are manufactured using pure cotton or paper wicks that are free from lead and completely safe.

At Ashleigh & Burwood we care about the health and well-being of our employees and customers. We are firmly committed to producing high quality candle products that can be enjoyed and enjoyed safely.

We recommend changing the reed diffuser sticks with each new bottle of fragrance. This is because the reeds can become clogged with fragrance and dust, stopping them from working efficiently.

Our product development team has years of experience in developing fragrances.

Once the direction of the fragrance is agreed, our fragrances are compiled by some of the biggest and best fragrance manufacturers in the world. Only when the development team is satisfied with the blending progress will the fragrance be used in a candle.

By far the most important reason our fragrances are so good is that we do not compromise on price when developing any of our fragrances.

We use only the highest quality materials: the best wicks, glassware, and premium-grade waxes. We understand the science of candle-making and blend various waxes, to create optimum burning and fragrance performance.
